Modern Meets Traditional
When it comes to interior shutters, our clients generally are looking for a similar aesthetic: an upscale, clean look with moveable louvers and white paint. While, of course, there are the ever-important details to decide – hidden or exposed tilt rods for example – this traditional style is as consistent as it is beautiful. But occasionally, our clients throw us a remarkable curveball. This was one of those times.
Our clients loved the light control, durability and added home value of interior shutters, but their style was anything but traditional. Their home combined the classic aspects of French country with modern fixtures, flooring and details. A dark and modern twist on interior shutters was the perfect design element to pull the styles together.
We started with measurements – A LOT of measurements. To carry this aesthetic throughout the home, we planned for interior shutters in nearly every room, from the kitchen to the nursery to the gym. We then decided on the details, including louver size and tilt rod placement. Once we finalized the quote and measurement process, we got to the design work, including a custom paint color in a deep black.
After creating and installing these completely custom shutters, we got to experience the moment that makes our field so rewarding: the big reveal. Our clients’ home vision came to life. Suddenly the traditional aspects of their home, like their gorgeous piano and free-standing bathtub, blended seamlessly with their unique and modern personal style.
